Davin Rain
Davin was born in upstate New York. Growing up in a very different lifestyle than most, he grew up Mennenite. The Mennonites are a Christian group based around the church communities of Anabaptist denominations named after Menno Simons and his writings (http://www.mennoniteusa.org/). They are comparative to the Amish faith although they use cars and electricity. At the age of 17 his family was excommunicated from the church for dress code violations, apparently his mother was fond of denim. ~I'm surely going to hell~ Davin and his family then moved to Colorado (would it to be safe to say the whole state has been out casted since weed is legalized?).
Davin's parents moved back east and at the age of 18 Davin got an apartment and a job as a tape duplication engineer until his car broke down. He walked eight miles each way for work until he lost his job. Soon after Davin lost his apartment and found himself living on the streets for a few months. Hard work and maybe a little help from the big guy upstairs got Davin back on his feet. He went back to work full-time and took double classes for computer repair to graduate quicker.
Davin fears heights and needles, he would rather be stabbed with a sword AGAIN than to be pricked with a needle. Davin considers being logical both a strength and weakness, he can usually think things through and know what will happen before it does, however he has to guard himself against over thinking. ~Sounds logical to me.~
Davin's not quite sure when he started playing IMVU, he met 6dJellz in a random room and they have been friends since. He plays a multitude of other games. He plays most everything. He has over 200 games on Steam, as well as XBox360, PS3, Sega, and Dreamcast. It's his love for gaming and online networking that inspired his gamer's podcast (http://anoraksoasis.podomatic.com/) . Which you can hear Fridays on Kromradio (http://www.kromradio.com/).
His hobbies are gaming, cooking (he claims he makes the best chili ever! Bring it!), and he loves to drive. He has a motorcycle and a sports car (91 dodge stealth), apparently our Davin has a fondness for racing. "about my racing. I never thought of it as something a bad influence. We lived out in the middle of nowhere. Honestly, we had more cows then people. I guess racing 'is 'a lot like a drug. Still to this day I'll hear a car rev at the road and no matter what it is I'm doing I'll look up. My gf simply says no and I try to redirect my attention to what I'm doing. Now let me say this racing thing started long before the fast and the furious craze. In fact I remember when fast and the furious actually came out. I and my friends went to see it in the drive in. During the racing parts we all revved our engines it was kind of a thing. After the movie was finished we were like "wow that was so amazing" We drove out of the drive in and instantly got pulled over by about 15 cops waiting. I seem to have a past with police. It all started early in my racing....career? I guess I wouldn't call it that. Anyway, there was a big head honcho in one of the towns over. Word had it he was a big drug dealer. Now at the time all I really wanted to do in life was race. Currently I had one of my cousins in the car with me and two runway models. This guy comes rolling up in his car trying to show off for his friends behind him. I laughed a bit and flashed my lights at him. before long the pedal was to the medal. Simply put I embarrassed him in front of his friends. This started a whole...war so to speak. Now I knew alot of people back east. This war wasn't a violent one but more of one of chaos. He would have his goons try to take out my car and destroy it. I'd have my friends keep an eye on it and run out of my work or house with a baseball bat. It wasn't one of those huge wars you see in a movie. I mean this is still the middle the of nowhere. Well word got around that I had beaten him in a race. Suddenly I had the cops after me as well. But they had nothing to actually get me for since they had no proof. One particular officer really didn't like me for some reason. He pulled me over 11 times in one month. For crazy things like one tail light being dimmer then the other. He was relentless. Then suddenly one day he walked into my work. (Off duty) with his gf on his arm. I paused for a moment only to find that I knew his gf. she ran up and gave me a huge hug. As I looked over her shoulder at her bf I gave him a smirk. Once she was finished hugging me. I said. "And who is this?" Walking over I introduced myself to her bf. Then said in a voice just loud enough so I was sure she heard me. "It's so good to finally meet the person who's been following me around pulling me over every day. The look on her face lol. I never saw that officer again. I raced for years after. I've only lost once (granted I was great at picking my races I Just never raced anyone I knew I couldn't beat) by what we call a sleeper. But it came to a point where I really loved my car alot and didn't want to beat it up anymore then I had. So I decided well I guess it's time to take a break."
Davin enjoys sports as well, when he was younger he slept with his basketball. ~visions of being a white, shorter Michael Jordan danced in his head.~ He would go outside and shoot hoops every day practicing because he swore one day he would play on the Bulls with Michael Jordan. When he moved to Colorado his school was one of the best in basketball. They won the championships and had really made a name for themselves. He wanted to play so bad, so he tried out for the team. (Now at the time he had bought a new car. It was a "hideously" yellow 1985 mustang convertible.) He tried out for the team in Colorado. He never had much faith in his ability as a player. But one thing he did know he was faster than most of them. He could steal the ball from anyone on the court. So he played on this strength. Well sure enough he got to tryouts and he gets pitted against the mvp from the previous year. He thought to himself well case closed. "There is no way IÂ’m going to make this team." So he played like normal. Just trying to have fun. Two days later the coach shows up at his house. He sits down and says. Why havenÂ’t you been to practice? He explains that the team mvp had told him after practice that Davin had him shut down all practice and if he got put against him again he would quit the team. Davin unfortunately had to turn down the opportunity because the day before he had gotten a full time job to pay for his car. Davin has gotten over his MJ bromance and is now a Duke Blue Devils's fan.
Davin has learned that each person can go through the exact same situations in life and learn something completely different from it. "The thing about life is itÂ’s ever changing. If you donÂ’t like something about your life get up and do something about it. Nothing is ever given. It has to be earned through blood, sweat and hard work."
Davin created a facebook page called "Be Awesome" [www.facebook.com]. It's for people who go above and beyond in making positive differences. Those are the people that keep his faith in the human race energized and inspire him.
Sorry ladies Davin has a girlfriend. Jb is often heard saying how sexy and hot he is. If he ever becomes single...she has dibbs!
